Prof. Filippi taught in the Roman public school system from 1943 until 1976. She was a professor at her alma mater, the University of St. Thomas Aquinas, since 1970 and at the Alphonsian Academy since 1972. She also shared her vast experience as a professor at the Regina Mundi Pontifical Institute and at the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical Atheneum. She was truly a gift to her students.
Professor Filippi was actively involved in teaching until the time of her last illness. When she fell ill, Prof. Filippi was teaching a course in Empirical Anthropology entitled Nostalgia for the Absolute in Contemporary Literature. The absence of this wonderful lady will be sorely felt at the Academy. Her pleasant smile and her easy yet dignified manner will be missed. The breadth of experience which she shared with her students will be a great loss to those who will not experience it. The thousands of students she touched with her gentle manner and wisdom gained a deeper awareness and understanding of the influence and interplay between culture and morality. Her more than thirty years of service in the Academy left an indelible mark upon it.
Funeral services for Professor Filippi were held on January 23, at 2:30 p.m. in Chiari (Brescia), Italy.
Everyone is warmly invited to attend the Memorial Mass which will be celebrated in her honor in the Church of St. Alphonsus, Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, in Rome on January 27, at 5:00 p.m.
We commend our beloved Professor Nella Filippi and all the deceased members of the Alphonsian Academy family to your prayers.
May Our Most Holy Redeemer hold her in the palm of His hand and may she always rest in peace.
