Father Lorenzo Alvares Verdes (1934 - 2007)
Professor Emeritus of the Alphonsian Academy Lorenzo Alvarez Verdes, C.Ss.R. passed away November 1, 2007. He was residing in the Redemptorist community of the Instituto de Ciencias Morales de Madrid. A massive heart attack claimed his life only a few hours after having been admitted to a local hospital. Funeral services were held in Madrid.
Professor Nella Filippi (1921 - 2004)
Professor Nella Filippi passed away in Rome on January 21, 2004 after a brief illness. Professor Filippi was actively involved in teaching until the time of her last illness. When she fell ill, Prof. Filippi was teaching a course in Empirical Anthropology entitled Nostalgia for the Absolute in Contemporary Literature.
Father Miguel Ceschini, C.Ss.R. (1954 - 2004)
Following a prolonged bout with diabetes and all its consequences Father Ceschini succumbed to a cardiac infarct on March 11, 2004.
Father Alphonse Humbert, C.Ss.R. (1919 - 2004)
After a protracted illness Professorr Humbert passed away on January 5, 2004 in Saint Etienne, France. In 1957, Father Humbert joined the teaching faculty of the Alphonsian Academy as a professor in the Department of Sacred Scripture and remained in this ministry until his retirement in 1994.
Father Francis X. Murphy, C.Ss.R. (1914 - 2002)
Redemptorist Father Francis X. Murphy, patristic scholar, historian and prolific author of academic and popular works, died on Thursday, April 11, in Annapolis, MD, U.S.A. Father Murphy was a professor at the Alphonsian Academy from 1959 – 1971 lecturing in Patristics and Missiology. He was truly influential in the early development of the Academy.
Father Julio de la Torre, C.Ss.R. (1919 - 1998)
Professor Emeritus of the Alphonsian Academy Julio de la Torre, C.Ss.R. passed away September 24, 1998. Father de la Torre was residing in the Redemptorist community of the Instituto de Ciencias Morales de Madrid. A diabetic coma claimed his life only a few hours after having admitted himself to a local hospital.
Father Bernard Häring, C.Ss.R. (1912 - 1998)
German Redemptorist, Father Bernard Häring died in the Redemptorist monastery in Gars-am-Inn, Germany on July 3, 1998. Father Häring, noted author, lecturer and theologian, was a professor of Moral Theology at the Alphonsian Academy from 1949 until his retirement in 1987.
Professor Peter Lippert, C.Ss.R. (1930 - 1998)
Father Peter Lippert, C.Ss.R., Alumnus and Professor of the Alphonsian Academy, passed away on May 9, 1998 after a long battle with cancer.
Father Seán O'Riordan, C.Ss.R. (1916 - 1998)
Father Seán O'Riordan, C.Ss.R., Professor Emeritus of the Alphonsian Academy passed away peacefully on January 26, 1998.
